Frequently Asked Questions
What ballistic coefficient model does ZeroPoint use?
We publish both G7 and G1 ballistic coefficients for every caliber. Our primary reference is G7, which is the standard used by Applied Ballistics and preferred for modern long-range shooting. G1 values are also provided for compatibility with older software.
What test conditions are used for ballistics data?
All trajectory data is computed at standard metropolitan conditions: 59°F, 29.92" Hg barometric pressure, sea level. This is the international standard used by Applied Ballistics and military ballistic solvers.
Can I generate a DOPE card for my specific rifle?
Yes. On each caliber's detail page, you can input your barrel length, optic height, zero distance, altitude, and temperature to generate a personalized DOPE card. Create a free ZeroPoint account to save it for field reference.
How do I compare different ZeroPoint calibers?
Use our Round Comparison Tool to overlay trajectory curves for up to 5 calibers simultaneously. See drop, velocity, and energy differences at every range with an interactive slider.
Is ZeroPoint's ballistics data compatible with Applied Ballistics?
Yes. We publish G7 BCs as our primary coefficient, matching the Applied Ballistics standard. Our data is computed under the same standard metro conditions and can be directly entered into the AB mobile app, Kestrel ballistic meters, and other AB-compatible devices.
